We do have our crazies on the right, but for the most part they are pathetically irrelevant and easily ignored. Perhaps the best evidence of this is that I can freely criticize the excesses on the right without fear of retribution! Even staunch liberals in academia are afraid of criticizing the left or of violating their many strictures on free speech for fear of being cancelled.
Where I most agree with you is with regard to January 6th. It is shameful that Trump fomented violence, and almost worse that Liz Cheney is being ostracized for speaking the truth and doing what is right.
- yehBu77 5y agoYeah no one has had to fear retribution for speaking against conservatives; oh wait here in my community they were driving around targeting “leftists” and minorities. Sorry but by continuing to deflect and project to spare your pride, and cling to traditional political divisions is … words like left and right in the context of politics mean nothing to me. You may as well be speaking in tongues. “Colorless green ideas sleep furiously.” is what it all feels like to me. I’m not saying you have to customize for my sensibilities; I’m saying I’m not customizing myself for yours. Dem or Rep they’re just one of seven billion to me. I give neither platform special consideration and focus on the politician individually. Free people who would manage their own affairs do not set aside management of those affairs in deference to aristocrats and parties controlled by their wealth. If you have actual information, metaphor and analogy that’s useful to future planning of real human needs, let’s talk. I simply cannot LARP American Civic Life: The Cablr News Show! anymore
- pmdulaney 5y agoI've been reading some Jacques Ellul about propaganda, and I have to say you're not letting the culture at large lead you by the nose! I'm also reminded of a quote from Edward Abbey: "Grown men don't need leaders." Peace to you.
