Ask HN: Can we make the font bigger for mobile view?
Hi,
I browse HN daily on my smallish Pixel 4 XL phone. The font size of important DOM elements, including the "new" hyperlink, are so tiny that I often accidentally tap the wrong element.
Can we please update the style to more modern, Bootstrapesque standards for easier consumption on mobile devices?
- timoteostewart 5y agoTangential, but have you tried alternative HN interfaces? There’s a decent sized list at https://github.com/cheeaun/awesome-hacker-news https://github.com/cheeaun/awesome-hacker-news , which includes my own humble effort in this direction: thnr.net
- mc4ndr3 5y agoI'd like the main website to optimize for mobile.
- gabrielsroka 5y agoIn Chrome, open Settings > Accessibility and set the text scaling to a larger number. I use 130% just because of Hacker News. I also wrote my own client using the API https://github.com/gabrielsroka/gabrielsroka.github.io/blob/master/hn.html https://github.com/gabrielsroka/gabrielsroka.github.io/blob/... We've asked for UI improvements and dark mode for a long time. I don't think they're ever going to happen.
