  Was it ever possible? Haven't we had just this same experience with all the other rapid mutating corona viruses? Do the re-infection rates of the vaccinated vs not suggest that the vaccines are less effective at preventing re-infection that natural immunity? years of "i told you so" piled up on this.

    It's a good question. You won't get a straight answer to that question anytime soon. The timeline will always move. Even if infections stay higher in the vaccinated, scientists will want another variant before coming to that conclusion. And then maybe another variant just to be sure.
