I'm not sure what to make of this - Today there were a lot of news reports stating (more or less) the same headline (varies from "Magic mushroom compound performs as well as antidepressant in small study" to "Magic mushroom compound ‘rewires the brain for people with depression’" (https://www.independent.co.uk/climate-change/news/magic-mushrooms-psilocybin-depression-treatment-b2055640.html https://www.independent.co.uk/climate-change/news/magic-mush...) but when you head to the actual study at (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2032994 https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2032994) their conclusion states .... "On the basis of the change in depression scores on the QIDS-SR-16 at week 6, this trial did not show a significant difference in antidepressant effects between psilocybin and escitalopram in a selected group of patients. Secondary outcomes generally favored psilocybin over escitalopram, but the analyses of these outcomes lacked correction for multiple comparisons." So (shrug)
