syncosync – secure peer to peer backup synchronization
syncosync is the code to set up a backup appliance to receive local backups from systems via rsync or sftp and to to sync those backups with a partner syncosync box remote to achieve backup redundancy - without using expensive cloud services.
Ready to run images for Raspberry Pi4 and Banana Pi exists but also a Debian package.

- steviehs 5y agoIt's not replacing restic. In fact using restic to a syncosync box is the solution for safe backups. Any other backup sofware which does supported encrypted backups to sftp/rsync does also work. The main idea is to have one syncosync box on your place and share it with a box at a friends place. Therefore the backup needs to be encrypted - not the box. In case of the max disaster you go buy a new laptop and grab the syncosync box of your partner and are ready to run withing hours. So, technically speaking syncosync are two small computers with huge disks rsyncing their content crosswise. BUT: with comfortable UI to support multiple backup accounts, disaster recovery, bandwidth control, status mail support etc. etc. etc.
