I don’t see the problem here. Media reported on both what Obama said and did, even if one thing invalidated the other. The Atlantic itself did write extensively about drone strikes and fracking during the Obama administration.
Now, compare that to the absolute sycophantic behaviour of Fox News.
- chiefalchemist 5y agoBy reported, do you mean buried the lede? There was an obvious bias then, and this Atlantic piece proves there's still a bias now. A true and legit Democracy requires a proper and bias-less Fourth Estate. We're a long way from that ideal. That's clear, yes? This oh-so subtle slight of hand type of disinformation might be palatable - and comfortable if it plays to your bias - but it's still a disservice to any / all warnings we've gotten from the greats (e.g., Orwell). The fact you don't see the problem is inductive of The Problem. Blinders don't change what's true.
- manuelabeledo 5y ago> By reported, do you mean buried the lede? No, I mean extensively, both in news articles and opinion pieces, e.g. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/12/president-obamas-weak-defense-of-his-record-on-drone-strikes/511454/ https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/12/preside... > The fact you don't see the problem is inductive of The Problem. Blinders don't change what's true. I don’t see the problem in this particular instance, because none of the suppositions provided are true. In fact, all those instances have been discussed in mainstream media for so long, they are almost cliches of the Obama administration. You could have chosen better examples, like how the appalling revelations of the Snowden affair were essentially blamed on previous administrations. But still, your initial comment sounded like “both sides are bad!”, which is inaccurate and a bit dishonest. The Atlantic just cannot be compared to its counterparts on the far right.
- chiefalchemist 5y ago> None of the suppositories are true Your Google must be broken, because all facts listed are there to find for those able and willing to see. I know this hurts, but your blindness and bias are part of the (narrative) problem. As you stump for the status quo remember...that's not working out well for the majority
- manuelabeledo 5y ago> Your Google must be broken, because all facts listed are there to find for those able and willing to see. I could find articles on every single example. Even if I couldn’t, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Either way, if I find them or I couldn’t, would that mean that my “Google is broken”? That makes little sense. > I know this hurts, but your blindness and bias are part of the (narrative) problem. I must say, I do not appreciate a patronising tone coming from someone incapable of grasping basic logic reasoning.
