They're not mandated by Git, you can do:
git commit --author "moffkalast <>"
- moffkalast 5y agoSo I can set up my global --user.email as <> and that'll work without breaking things on the upstream?
- isbvhodnvemrwvn 5y agoWhy would it? It's just some metadata, arbitrary text as far as any git client is considered.
