My mom's cat did not do anything super smart but she made me feel dumb. She would walk over and start talking - almost literally. Her trills and mews vere so varied in pitch and length that it sounded like speech. And she responded when we talked to her. This made me feel dumb, because I obviously couldn't understand what she'd talk about. Well except that one time she detected a leak in the central heating and alerted me to it.
