Nvidia Claims Arm Grace CPU Superchip 2X Faster Than Intel Ice Lake
- mikece 5y agoWhy isn't anyone making something the size of an Intel NUC but powered by an 8+ core ARM CPU with NVMe/SATA SSD and meant for running Windows?
- rektide 5y agoARM has been coming to desktop & workstation for a decade now, supposedly, but nothing ever materializes. We get dev kits with 4 year old phone chips that cost $400 (often double that) and up, and projects like AMD's arm chips ("seattle", "heirofalcon") never materialize. the ARM ecosystem has remained decidedly botique. it's resisted consumerization, commodification. there's less players than their used to be, but it still feels somewhere on the edge between believability (that making these chips & making them affordable is hard) and conspiracy (that everyone in the ARM market is actively trying to keep chips from being readily available for use). the snapdragon tablet chips (8cx) are kind of ok. not great. they keep shipping the same chip & calling it a new generation, even though it's the same chip pretty much, which is farcical for something so power intense that cant even beat an old apple a13 chip.
