> who studies how dogs and humans process language at the University of Maryland
I gave out quite a laugh while I was reading this. More so, because I peeking at the article with my stern scientific mind. Now I know that dogs and humans process language differently at University of Maryland.
Obviously the sentence should've been written:
> who studies at the University of Maryland how dogs and humans process language
- qubex 4y agoThat sounds very wrong to me… I’d much prefer “who at the University of Maryland studies the processing of language in dogs and humans”.
- henriquemaia 4y agoPersonal preference, I believe. But the point still stands: the original sentence is more ambiguous that both our rewritings. Ours just show that the original sentence could be improved.
- gmueckl 4y agoYou're technically correct that the results are only valid for the University of Maryland. The experiments were conducted in a single location, so any potential spatial variation of the observed behavior hasn't been captured in that dataset. ;)
