If true, this is so sad, and cruel. I agree with the libertarian defence. While he should have known what his compartments were being used for, the same accusation could be levelled against, say, Apple when criminals use an iPhone to communicate. Given the mass usage of iPhones, it seems reasonable to suspect that some of those sales are going to result in criminal activity. Very surprised this kind of angle wasn't used by the defence.
