That's awesome! As an IC, I have a supportive manager but a lot of ad-hoc requests are just taken on, some of them don't make sense, and then I have to push back. When I push back, my manager supports me but a lot of time is wasted in meetings and slack messages to keep protecting my time to do actual work. On the positive side, I'm not a confrontational/assertive person. So, I had to learn how to say no and to articulate well why I push back.
