When was the last time an American fighter pilot shot down a bomber?

- throwaway894345 5y ago“Deterrence” is the word you’re looking for. Bombers don’t fly against the US because our fighters (and various other AA systems) would shoot them down.
- nix23 5y agoSorry but not even north Korea would use bombers, however fighters are good for airspace policing...but shooting down bombers....that's 60's mindset.
- throwaway894345 5y agoNo need to apologize. NK doesn’t use bombers because fighters and are prolific. Without those fighters bombers become more viable.
- nix23 5y agoI think you should educate yourself about something called rockets.
- throwaway894345 5y agoI converse here on HN because the discourse is usually a little higher than the “middle school” level that you find elsewhere on the Internet. Won’t you join me in preserving that property?
- nix23 5y agoIf you change your username, i don't like talk to "throwaway"-trolls
- throwaway894345 5y agoMy name has the string "throwaway" in it, but I have 4x your karma so I think it's safe to say I'm just as valid a contributor in this community as you are. Anyway, neither of us are using our legal names, so I don't know why you're throwing that stone in particular. That said, you're breaking the site guidelines: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- nix23 5y ago>That said, you're breaking the site guidelines >>usually a little higher than the “middle school” You too.
- throwaway894345 5y agoI'm sure you weren't trying to mislead by sharing a cropped version of my quote which may seem more nefarious than the full sentence; however, it should be noted that the original sentence read: > I converse here on HN because the discourse is usually a little higher than the “middle school” level that you find elsewhere on the Internet. Rather than your edit: > usually a little higher than the “middle school” Edits like these don't inspire good faith discussion. Frankly, I think this thread has thoroughly outlived its useful life.
