Bloggers have, in my opinion, influenced tremendously society and in ways that we can't fathom or grasp exactly due to all the chaos. Scott Alexander's blog, the LessWrong community, and so many others have influenced the way I view and think about the world, assisting me in my quest to become a better scientist, and who knows, if something good comes out of it, then they have also helped themselves while remaining oblivious to it. Disseminating knowledge is paramount to improving our society, and I think that blogs certainly help with that.
