  That's a little weird. The ways companies motivate their employees with mission statements and how they're "changing/saving the world" can definitely be weird. That being said, a lot of people appreciate and need that kind of motivation. Hopefully it's gets less weird as you get into your role. I'm always thinking things like "yeah, I guess our mission is to change the world in X way, but I've spent the last three months making this revenue reporting graph for EU tax purposes."
