- zqna 5y agoI'm sure Germany with all its reserves is rich enough to pay a higher price for energy. The price that less rich European countries were paying for years. Is this reluctance to wean off then because of lack of infrastructure, so that it's impossible to deliver the needed energy at all? I highly doubt that, because it is always possible to switch energy carriers. Heating wise the households could switch to movable electric radiators for a winter. I'm sure we Europeans could collect enough money for poor Germans to buy 50 million of those (even donate the ones we have). The fact is that Germany (yet) doesn't see itself as enabler of this war and greed is its main motivator which was also the reason why it sucked to Russian gas in the beginning. I wonder only if this is a trait of its current ruling elites or its populace are also happy with this behavior, that let's them sit comfortably at the expense of others dying.

Germany really need to show solidarity on this and one way is to make sure for them that the EU project will not survive if we don't help Ukraine to win this war. It is not possible without starving Russia from its hydrocarbon profits.
