Canada to Ban Blind Bidding as Part of Home Buyers’ Bill of Rights
- blinded 5y agoThere is probably a business here. Pay X person to rep Y person and bid on house in person at scale.
- incomingpain 5y agoThis was one of the NDP coalition points they wish to do. Overall, the full home buyer bill of rights is good. Not just the open auction change. https://pm.gc.ca/en/news/news-releases/2022/03/22/delivering-canadians-now https://pm.gc.ca/en/news/news-releases/2022/03/22/delivering... https://liberal.ca/our-platform/protecting-your-rights/ https://liberal.ca/our-platform/protecting-your-rights/ The other thing that doesn't seem to have been getting any media coverage at all. If you sell a house within 12 months of buying. You're going into a much higher tax bracket. https://liberal.ca/our-platform/curb-speculation-and-house-flipping/ https://liberal.ca/our-platform/curb-speculation-and-house-f... Basically house flipping was greatly nerfed in this budget. You can fault the fed gov for many things but these are good changes. Then again nothing they are doing actually addresses the problem of why the housing market is so hot. You can argue that this budget is about to make the situation worse.
