- snapcaster 5y agoThis comes from /r/superstonk (specifically gamestop and AMC bagholders). It's basically Qanon but applied to a retail company stock. Very fascinating

- bdcravens 5y agoIn looking at financing my new house, despite the relatively high ratings the company had, I didn't even consider Better - even ignoring the human cost, it's clear the company is in free-fall in some way or another.
- duped 5y agoI had multiple offers rejected because my lender was Better. I highly recommend staying away if you're making competitive offers (in other words, not spending a stupid amount). But loan originators are all slightly scummy in their own ways, and they'll still sell your loan off to a servicer (not of your choice).

- Gortal278 5y agoI have no idea why anyone would hang around at an employer like Better.com.
- gnulinux 5y agoBecause some people live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to look for a new job, and even if they can do so for a few weeks it comes with extreme stress, because if you can't find a job then you may need to deal with some form of homelessness.
- landemva 5y agoStress from court ordered child support payments encourages people to never be without a paycheck because child support enforcement can suspend driver license for missing payments.
- gnulinux 5y agoNot to mention some people work in the US on a visa (H1B, J1 or similar) and changing jobs can be months long uphill battle against bureucracy and your current employer's lawyers. Of course, if you fail you're forced to vacate a country you built your life in.
