Yow. Curse of Monkey Island was my first, but I've never really been able to settle into the other series.
The artwork and soundtrack for COMI were absolutely gorgeous though.
"You look like a monkey in a negligee!"
- Andrew_nenakhov 5y agoI actually prefer the style in MI1 and MI2, but having played them first, this is not really surprising.
- bjt2n3904 5y agoI missed out on the Amiga era of games, sadly. There is a charm and beauty to those, but I seem to have missed the era for it, and got spoiled by better technologies.
- Agentlien 5y agoI also played Curse first. I really enjoyed the first two games and I liked their art. But all in all, the third is still my favourite.
- shadowgovt 5y agoCurse was also my first, and my only fear with this project is that Gilbert will think we need to go back to the nine-option interaction system for the first two games. The three-option interaction medallion was actually quite clever, and I really don't want to be stuck staring at a piece of the screen deciding if I should "use" it, "push" it, or "pull" it.
- andi999 5y agoI hated the three option medallion, probably it was too clever for me.
- bjt2n3904 5y agoI do remember giggling like a maniac when the parrot option would be to lick something that you normally would never consider licking.
- the_af 5y agoFear not! In his 2013 post he already said if he ever made another Monkey Island he would get rid of the "verbs".
- bombcar 5y agoThen he made Thimbleweed which is verbs as far as the eye can see. At least the right click uses a verb intelligently most of the time. I think I used pull once in a situation it wasn't needed in? From perusing the forums, he's also much more aware of translation issues with all the verbs, so we may see something different this time around.
- zeagle 5y agoI played 1 and 2 so found it hard to get into 3. Funny how exposures in childhood anchors one's tastes. The special editions were an absolute joy to play!
