Show HN: Boot.dev – my sideproject attempting to help fix coding education
- wagslane 5y agoHey all! Just this week we reskinned and renamed the entire site. It was Qvault.io and now it's Boot.dev. Basically we went all in on dark mode and found a name that more accurately portrays what we do. I started building this thing over two years ago and have just been plugging away in my spare time. I was (and still am) frustrated that when my wife wanted to learn to code I couldn't find high-quality sources that checked the following boxes: 1. Primarily focused on CS, not just the hottest new framework 2. Primarily uses modern languages / modern syntax 3. Is focused on writing real code and projects rather than just video lectures 4. Has a linear curriculum so that students don't have to know enough to build their own. Anyhow, that's how the project started. I've learned a ton along the way about what my students care about vs what I THOUGHT they would care about so some big pivots in the product have happened since the beginning. I'd love to hear what you all think!
