To me, the value of unit tests really depends on the power of the type system. If you're in working with Haskell, Ocaml, ... , unit test have almost no value. H

To me, the value of unit tests really depends on the power of the type system. If you're in working with Haskell, Ocaml, ... , unit test have almost no value. However, if you're using python, php, javascript,... unit tests will help you to avoid most silly mistakes.
- rectang 5y agoYou're only talking about the subset of tests which the type system can supplant. Logic bugs are outside of the type system's domain, and the generalization "unit tests have almost no value" does not apply to unit tests which validate logic.
