Comparing Go vs. C in embedded applications
- mikece 5y agoThe main advantage for C/C++ for embedded applications, as I understand it, is its ability to compile down to an executable that is measured in kilobytes rather than megabytes or larger. For embedded applications where you can use a "larger footprint" language or framework, how likely is it to only have enough room for Go but not NodeJS, Java, .NET, or even Elixir? A secondary question is how easy will it be to find examples of embedded programming code in something other than C/C++ or NodeJS? I am not challenging Go as an option: I'm asking these questions out of ignorance and thinking management would likely lean toward a language where we can easily find and study examples others have done rather than blaze our own trail and absorb all of the slings and arrows that go with it.
