Meta is reportedly making ‘Zuck Bucks’
- jleyank 5y agoI'm sure Meta is making Zuck a whole lotta Bucks. Ah, you mean crypto that's going to be supported by Facebook? Err, Facebook customers tend to get old and die... I think people will do better with crypto that isn't tied to something that isn't controversial such as, umm, "nothing". The average HN reader might view Meta crypto as socially equivalent to the stamps that used to come with cigarette packs or, to be harsh "Slavic War Bonds".

- WheelsAtLarge 5y agoMeta will need a currency for the metaverse. Zuck Bucks are a good start. Crypto was a mistake for Meta, since they had to share control, but a Meta only based currency will eventually be a success since they have such a large user base and they will have complete control to use it as they need. It's a bit scary since they will now have a currency that they control. Meta's control over it will be similar to a country. Also, the bucks will eventually have a conversion rate to hard currency. All they have to say is that people that buy ads will need to buy them in zuck bucks and set the conversion rate. Imagine, there will eventually be a group of people that will spend their time working for Zuck Bucks.
