Tangential: Marcus Hutter's AIXI model popped in my head. The hardness of the time-bounded Kolmogorov complexity is also tied to the maximum intelligence of his universal AIXI agents.
So, in an universe where one-way functions exist, the best agents can have privacy, but are rationally more limited than their cousins that live in a universe without OWFs.
Makes sense? One property, two consequences.
(I'm not talking about quantum cryptography, which I know even less than the usual one)
- ravi-delia 5y agoI think that seems basically logical, though I suspect there's a sort of peak of agency towards the middle of rationality. Like, if you had a planning oracle you wouldn't be an agent anymore, even if you were perfectly rational. That matches my intuitions, it seems like agentness is tied to complexity anyway.
