I wanted a personal website, and I think it does a decent job in terms of not looking bad and being simple. But I realized that trying to design a personal site is difficult because you're trying to design a website to fit what you've already done. There are a lot of things that didn't make it on my site or not in the ways I want, just because they don't fit nicely in the current sitemap.
