Why does Windows need to be fixed, and in what way?
I don't use windows so some of my knowledge may be dated, but as I understand it, Windows is a dual, first between "Enterprise" software that is sold as part of MS solutions for business and aimed at decision makers, presumably already well optimized for that. And secondly, a google style "you are the product" kind of offering that tries to aggressively mine consumers for mostly advertising purposes. It seems like it already has its market fit doing these things, and "improving" it would end up breaking those.
Apple has a (comparatively) consumer first offering, at a higher cost, and linux has a giant spectrum, obviously skewed to tech savvy folks, but well covering consumers plus power users plus enterprise.
What would it look like to fix windows, from a strategic perspective?
