What does it mean to "believe" in Free Software?
I believe Free Software (as defined in your post) exists and will continue to exist for the foreseeable future.
> Is free software a lost cause?
This question seems to assume that Free Software is a cause, which is notably absent from the GNU definition you presented.
- ilovecaching 4y agoThe Free Software we are talking about is more of an assertion that you have a right to something, and not just a licensing model. By right, I mean something akin to a constitutional right - as in it's in the public's best interest for you to be able to see the source code of the programs you run, be able to modify them, etc. It's your right, as the owner of a piece of software, to be able to do these things. It's not about free as in price, but free as in speech (which is a constitutional right).
