Elephant in the room here is inflation. Entry-level (particularly white-collar) salaries have consistently gone up. These consulting firms are now competing with big tech and well-funded startups for talent, and falling short on equity.

- nly 5y ago6 figures is nothing in London. House prices here have risen ~8%/year for 20 years. The problem of course is higher salaries just feed in to inflationary spiral. No matter how much you earn you always seem to end up spending 50% or your salary putting a roof over your head.
