Ruby’s metaprogramming is magic, it’s harmful, not powerful, and shouldn’t be compared with actually powerful statically analyzable codegen metaprogramming in other languages. Everything happens at runtime in Ruby, so the fundamental structure of your program can change unexpectedly simply by the order you load files, or the order your code executes in. If you’re building a server, this means your backend code can fundamentally change based on the order you load pages. This is magic. Avoid it.
