Winning back the youth via blockchain online voting
- pjerem 5y agoIt's scam. Blockchain cannot solve the online vote problem. Online voting just cannot exist while guaranteeing both : - anonymity of the vote - uniqueness of the ballot - ballot theft - forced voting
- verdverm 5y agoA voting system needs to be understandable by the masses to be trusted. Blockchain will never attain this most important feature
- latexr 5y ago> Today’s digital natives have grown up in a world of screens and electronics. The traditional paper and pencil convention is considered antiquated and, to some extent, ridiculed. In fact, research across the globe has found a growing reluctance amongst young people to exercise their right to vote in elections. “In fact”? If the claim is there are young people who believe voting is important but don’t do it because it uses pencil and paper, you need to back it up with more than a vague mention of unspecified “research across the globe”. > MIT researchers claimed that internet and blockchain-based voting (…) would have little to no effect on voter turnout They go on to describe how their own self-defined “next generation Blockchain platform” tackles voting (you need to provide a photo ID which is stored by a third-party) but have zero response to the MIT conclusion, despite that problem being ostensibly the point of the post.
