Depending on how old the person you're talking to is, this will mean (as originally meant) a gray/staticy color, or a searingly vivid blue, (or, I guess, something else like a graphical "no signal found" screen in the most modern interpretations). As with much sci-fi, it's a story of "the future" that's thoroughly grounded in the present day it was written in.
