Unicode will no longer accept proposals for new flag emoji

  Doesnt unicode just encode country abbreviations? I thought they washed their hands of which abbreviations are which glyphs.

  Hit a pay wall asking for $14.99 a month. What the hell is Quartz (qz.com) offering that's worth that? I don't know, because I don't want to sign up for a "7 day free trial after you give us your credit card details, and we're assuming and hoping that you forget to cancel your 'subscription' after that 7 day 'free' 'trial'." If I wanted dark patterns, I'd subscribe to Knitting With Voldemort. I doubt we're running out of code points. I mean Wales has a flag emoji, is Wales any less or more independent than Catalonia?
