I've done this. I have serious issues with computer/internet overuse (I have to avoid the "a" word), if I am able to have a computer in front of me all the time I will. My desktop is confined to a single space in my home unlike a laptop, a space that I don't actually want to spend all my time in. This alone gets me away from it more than I otherwise would be and has been very helpful to me.
