For the life of me I can't understand why any software engineer would want an under-powered machine that's optimized for battery life (i.e. a laptop.) I've worked from home and always opted to build my own PC (not that you can't find powerful pre-built desktops.) If you need mobility, get a cheap laptop and remote into your powerful desktop machine.
