Show HN: A Slack bot that sends chocolates to your coworkers
- Lior539 5y agoThis is a side-project of mine: It's harder to connect with your coworkers when working remotely. At my previous job it was common to take coworkers out for coffee/lunch if they did something especially helpful for you. In order to replicate this in a remote setting, I built ChocBot
- Festro 5y agoI think this is really cute and hope it takes off for you. My initial thoughts are all about making the price point work harder. Would you consider a batched delivery system (if that's not how it works already)? So, collect the kudos from teams at a company in real-time, but only send orders out in batches weekly for instance? Then adjust the price point to a per bar cost + a flat delivery fee? That might reduce costs a little for people using the service. Companies might also want to cap expenditure if they are footing the bill. So, tiered subscriptions with up to X uses per month might be appealing? Love the vegan + lactose free approach for accessibility. The header video is a little low quality for me, it's a gif? There might be a higher quality way to load the video for connections that can handle it. The actor also over does it a little but I think that almost adds to the presentation.
- Lior539 5y agoHey Festro. Thank you for your thoughts! Re pricing and batching: 100% agree. I also thought that limiting it to X uses per month would make it feel more special e.g. if you only have 1 chocolate to give per month, it means more when you send. However I thought for the mvp I wouldn't add these features just yet. Re the video quality: Yeah its a gif. It takes quite long to load too since its quite large (14MB). I wasnt able to figure out how make it high quality and load quick at the same time. If anyone has any ideas how to do this, would love to know! (It's built using NextJS)
