Ask HN: Where can you sell a non-profitable SaaS?
Are there any platforms where you can sell your non-profitable projects?
- sirspacey 5y agohttps://microacquire.com https://microacquire.com
- AlexandrBel 5y agoThey reject projects without profit, there must be a profit in order to sell there
- vitabenes 5y agoI don't know of any platform for this. You could ask around on Indiehackers, or just think about who could be interested in that project and google around to find potential acquirers. Who could add it to their existing offering as an interesting bonus, or add it to their core product?
- smt88 5y agoAn unprofitable project is debt. No one is going to pay for it. Just cut your losses, shut it down, and move on.
- GianFabien 5y agoAgreed. I might add that for many people, the sunk cost fallacy, rather like the gambler's ruin, makes it very difficult for them to accept their losses and shut things down. Just one more night hacking, another SEO trick, one more HN post, etc. Hoping, hoping that things will turn around ... except in many cases they don't.
- GianFabien 5y agoLooking at it from the buyer's point of view: what is the value in a non-profitable project? Even if the idea appears to be good, it would require considerable investment in effort (at least) before it will generate any revenue. Even for acquisitions of profitable businesses, there typically is a an "earn-out" component. That is, you only get paid if certain revenue/profit milestones are attained.
- gregjor 5y agoNASDAQ. Or make an NFT of it.
