- gigglesupstairs 5y agoTitle is misleading. It is lobbying against Anti-LGBTQ laws
- koshergweilo 5y agoIf you told me ten years ago that Giant corporations would be fighting to protect individual liberties I wouldn't believe it but here we are.
- bequanna 5y agoThis is simple virtue signaling meant to soften Apple’s image and remind you what a hip, cool company they are. They consider it part of their marketing budget.
- koshergweilo 5y agoI agree, but both of these statements can be true.
- golgappi 5y agoYou shouldn't believe it. Corporations are where the money is.
- koshergweilo 5y agoYeah I'm holding my breath if it actually gets any results but something is better than nothing
- jl2718 5y agoSo there’s this thing called ESG, which the SEC now enforces. https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2021-42 https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2021-42 It’s taking over Wall St because there was a ruling saying that ESG is now a primary criteria for the well-being of plan participants, instead of just profit. https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2021-22263.pdf https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2021-22263.pdf So naturally the investment industry sees the fees for ESG active management as an escape from low-fee index funds. So there’s a lot of money pouring into ESG, and the corporations all fight for allocations with the fund managers.

Would you be against seperating siamese twins? > there's no good reason to subject children to this Studies on mental health outcomes all over the world disagree with this. > These "transgender girls" are, in reality, boys and men who want to be girls. So what? The reason why people (in the USA) get angry about this, is because the republican party has run out of other forms of populism to mobilize their base. In the past preventing people of different races competing in sport was used as a means of discrimination against those groups. Let's not fall back to that. Of course the rules can be improved but international bodies of sport seem to judge in a way that gives trans people more rights to do sport then some USA laws allow. I think this should happen on a sport by sport basis om the international level and not on a state by state basis for all sports.
