Pregnant women vaccinated for Covid-19 twice as likely to get as not pregnant
- h2odragon 5y ago> The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been urging people to get coronavirus shots before or during pregnancy, seeking to dispel fear — widespread in some communities, without scientific basis — that those vaccinations could be harmful. Seems a bit non-sequitur? "We're pushing this on pregnant women to prove how safe it is?" I mean, they obviously can't recommend it on the basis of preventing infection, but this phrasing makes it sound as if the "PR benefits" are more important than any protection afforded this particular class of vaccine recipients, doesn't it?
- cinntaile 5y agoThey're "pushing this" on pregnant women because they have a much higher risk of getting covid and if they have covid this can lead to pregancy complications and nobody wants that.
- ChoGGi 5y ago“I have not admitted a single vaccinated patient to the ICU. Every one has been unvaccinated,” Hughes said. On an unrelated topic, I'm having some trouble parsing the title: "twice as likely to get as not pregnant"
- detaro 5y agoits the first sentence of the article, and the submitter removed "covid-19" after the "get", breaking the sentence entirely.
- PennRobotics 5y ago"Pregnant people at much higher risk of breakthrough covid, study shows" The original title was perfectly fine.
