I've never understood why we assume that AGI will not have many of the problems and limitations that GI has. It's always been my assumption that the development of AGI will probably mean creating intelligences that will:
1. Take a long time to develop and learn
2. Require large energy resources to deal with relatively trivial life situations
3. Have difficulties with fundamental motivation: desire, the (non)meaning of life etc...
- hugh-avherald 5y agoThe third point seems merely a consequence of man's need to reproduce and eat, together with the advantage of pro-social instincts. If a machine with general intelligence didn't have to worry about energy consumption or reproduction, I doubt it would experience ennui or depression. (Of course the Singularity is another matter.)
