Almost all exponential curves become s-curves in time.
I don't believe that agi will be created. I believe either that there's something fundamental to the universe that manifests as life, or that human neurology limits the understanding required to bootstrap it. Either way, we can't make it, and neither can an AI designed by humans.
We will have powerful application specific, narrow scope AI tooling. This is obvious. And these will be very, very cool. But AGI, I just don't see it.
- MaxikCZ 5y agoI dont know. Look at what nature did with nothing but chaos and time. Having computers being able to simulate things faster than realtime is already possible, its just about how fast can we make them. Or, later, how fast can they make themselves.
- betwixthewires 5y agoI don't think its a question of scale, I think like the author of the article that it is a question of architecture. It could very well be, for whatever reason, that the only way to arrive at this architecture is 3 billion years and a chaotic process.
