Does the author know how computers work? I mean, how they really work?
It feels like the newest tech affine generation of this planet has started to lose a bit of grounding by failing to get a thorough understanding of how things work.
An AGI that is "taking over the internet and other infrastructure" is just - completely overblown hyperbole.
Will they be controlling power plugs too?
- SheinhardtWigCo 5y agoYes, they will. To ignore the threat posed by imminent AGI is to bury one's head in the sand. Stockfish is ~3500 elo; Carlsen is a relatively pathetic 2864. Six years ago, AlphaGo crushed the top human player, winning 4 games out of 5. The evolution of language models clearly demonstrates an accelerating trend toward output that passes the Turing test, and also toward output that causes harm to humans. The signs are there, in plain sight.
