Russian Marx generator test center torn down (2019)
- ggm 5y agoThe cogniscenti will know this, but its "Erwin Otto Marx" who designed this type of machine in 1924 not groucho or karl. It's happenstance that its an instance of high voltage generator of a type designed by Mr Marx, in Russia. Peter Kapitza went back to the USSR from Cambridge in 1934 and couldn't get out again. Rutherford sent all his high-energy equipment to him, which considering the state of politics at the time, I thought was very generous and noble.
