I think AGI is possible in theory, but may not be possible in practice. I also think that "intelligence" is a vague concept, which makes defining what AGI even is tricky. Reaching it assumes that the ceiling for our technology is sufficiently low and that the runway for us to continue making progress is sufficiently long. Neither of those assumptions may end up being valid.
