That's been the confusing thing for me. I'm sure automated trucking is being worked on, but all the media/conversation seems to be around consumer vehicles. Automated trucking is a much more impactful, and frankly easier problem to solve. You could simply automate highway part and have manual take over near cities to remove 90% of the challenge.
