Twitter support tells user to try innocuous action and see if she gets banned
- twoxproblematic 5y agoPosting undoctored pictures of Hunter Biden smoking crack got me insta suspended. Posting undoctored pictures of Biden being creepy with kids got me insta suspended too, for "depictions of child sexual abuse" lmao. I wonder how deeply they check. In China you can't post pictures of the Tiananmen Square massacre. Photos will get instantly deleted (with eventual bans), even if you flip them or insufficiently add artifacts. Blurring/darkening corners seemed to do the trick.
- rob_c 5y agocareful or you'll get banned or downvoted here :P
- tonfreed 5y agoI got permabanned from Twitter for a screenshot of Twitter's stock price. Not that I cared, that place is a cesspool of 100 IQ LARPers anyway.
- honkdaddy 5y agoThat's largely because the Biden campaign instructed Twitter, NYT, and Washington Post to bury the Hunter story prior to the election. It was ultimately decided by the American powers that be that getting a Democrat in office was more important than reporting the truth, so the folks at the top classified the entire story as "misinformation." The contents of the laptop are real, Hunter did smoke crack, and Big Tech / Big Media signed a deal with the devil to ensure the American people were lied to about it until at least the inauguration. I'm not American and thankfully never will be, but I'd have a hard time ever trusting the Dems after that butchery of justice.
- cableshaft 5y agoBecause Republicans have never been butchers of justice. /s They both suck and do shitty things, but despite me voting third party almost every primary and election (when possible), they've managed to convince everyone else that it's a wasted vote so no one else does, so we're stuck with choosing between a giant douche and a turd sandwich, to quote a classic South Park episode.
- thatguy0900 5y agoBoth parties are shit but only one of those parties can convince the tech cos to hide their scandals for them
- good8675309 5y agoHow did we get here?? How did we stand by and let the internet turn into this? Hell the people that created these nightmarish algorithms read HN regularly
- drekipus 5y agoNo one cares about holding big companies accountable in a real way. There's internet arguments about everything, and there's usually a reason. Some people want it this way, others don't. You won't believe how many people get paid to support/endorse/encourage X which is just fuel on the fire. I don't really see change happening any time soon.
- leephillips 5y ago“we” didn’t get anywhere. The “internet” didn’t turn into anything. Nobody has to use Twitter.
- Commodore63 5y ago"We" adopted services that cost nothing, and this is the customer support we paid for.
- spupe 5y agoExactly. Plus, it's not like "back in the day" you could do anything about random bans on IRC, Usenet or whatever.
- m1gu3l 5y agoat a certain point wouldn’t you say ‘screw it do i really need Twitter’?
