Large-scale cryovolcanic resurfacing on Pluto
- PaulHoule 5y agoWith geothermal energy it's plausible that Pluto has underground oceans with a volume greater than the Earth's!
- AnimalMuppet 5y agoThat's giving "plausible" quite a workout. (Um, that is, unless by "ocean" you mean "something liquid", not "liquid water". Even then, though, the scientists seem to be leaning toward "shush" rather than "liquid".)
- PaulHoule 5y agoOuter solar system bodies like Pluto contain water as a major component, not just a breath of condensation on the surface. Between high pressure, freezing point depression of brines, geothermal and sometimes tidal heat, liquid water underground is generic to outer solar system, cometary and interstellar bodies of fair size and above.
