Typically you need to pay taxes on dividends, does a stock split dividend mean that there will be taxes incurred on the stock split?
- jfengel 5y agoNo. You don't owe taxes on a stock split dividend until you sell the stock. Despite being cast as a "reward" for stockholders, it's really just an accounting shift. Nothing of value is actually changing hands.
