The big idea: do we still need religion?
- hunglee2 5y agotoday, we have many secular ideologies which are characteristic of religious belief - free market economics, democracy, human rights - seems that any kind of value system must ultimately be rooted on axiomatic beliefs, which are no more than an article of faith. So...yes is my answer to this rhetorical question!

- h2odragon 5y agoDo people still need faith in themselves? as much as they always have. Are tribes of "we are right and the rest of the world is wrong" people still annoying and dangerous? As much as they ever were. WE decided to call religion bad, then added the worst elements of it to politics and leisure and everything else in life. We don't go to church but we have to affirm our faith in "the current thing" to everyone we meet. Woe betide you if you've been out of touch and the current thing changed without your cognizance.
