This is very apt coming from Mike Solana. I quite like him but he blocked me for some reason. I'm a literal nobody with 5 followers. I never flame and I discuss in good faith. My guess is he's too trigger happy with blocking. I'm sure it works well for him, but blocking people strongly enforces your own echo chamber. This makes you weaker to critiques, which is an incredibly valuable form of feedback.

consider that Twitter is not an appropriate platform to receive critique. many people might simply not want to use it that way. I don't know who Mike Solana is, maybe he's also bad at taking feedback in real life, but still.

  While you may be right that Twitter is not an appropriate platform to receive critique, consider that it might be unhealthy if we build a major avenue of society-level communication that is not an appropriate place for critique.

Critiques are nice, critiques from complete strangers on the internet are rarely helpful and often unwanted.

    It’s a mistake to think of it as an emotional response. I looked at Mike Solana’s timeline. He’s got nearly 100k followers and tweets about topics like the RNC, mask mandates, NFTs, international politics, housing, and religion. You can bet your ass his tweets attract a ton of weirdos in the replies. I’m guessing he takes five seconds to figure out whether or not to block you, because he has to make these decisions multiple times each day, and he has better things to do. It does feel like a big deal the first time you block someone. I remember the first time I blocked someone on Twitter. I was so sick of seeing their tweets in my feed. After I blocked them, I just kinda forgot about them, and my brain is free to do other stuff. Blocking is not a big deal.
