I tried a fairly obscure and technical query, "what's a Finite State Entropy Encoder?" and it came up with https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7040951 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7040951 which is about "Finite State Entropy - A new breed of entropy coder" http://fastcompression.blogspot.com/2013/12/finite-state-entropy-new-breed-of.html http://fastcompression.blogspot.com/2013/12/finite-state-ent...
Neither google nor DDG found that. Pretty neat. :)
- jedwhite 5y agoThank you! This made me really happy! We're trying to include more good sources that don't show up well in traditional search, and there's a lot more to do here. But for some types of technical searches it is already doing well at this. Thanks for trying out Andi, and for letting us know that it did well here!
- carapace 5y agoCheers! The other thing that I noticed that Andi seems to do well is exclude blog spam. Overall it seems like you folks won search. Good work!
- jedwhite 5y agoThank you! There is still a LOT of work to do on the spam front but it's a good start especially in areas like programming. Much more coming on this front soon :)
